Danville
Located in the northern portion of the San Ramon Valley, the Danville Area includes the unincorporated communities of Alamo, Diablo and Blackhawk. The Town of Danville was incorported in 1982, and this sleepy agricultural town began its evolution to one of the top choices of places to live in the East Bay. The history is still told at the Museum of San Ramon Valley that was the original train station.
Quality housing, good weather, outstanding schools, and reasonable access to San Francisco are among the factors which attract people to settle in Danville. There is a strong emphasis on quality education in the Valley. Public schools rank among the best in California. There are also excellent private and parochial schools.
The real estate market is characterized by both growth and stability. The area has an increasingly diverse employment base in businesses such as transportation, communication and finance. Some even refer to Danville as a "Western Carmel" because of the small time charm, the restaurant scene and the 200 miles of trails that surround the town which include the Ironhorse Regional Trail, Mt. Diablo State Park and Las Trampas Regional Preserve. A gathering spot each Saturday is the Farmers Market as a place the community connects each week. Stop by rain or shine, 52 weeks a year.
There are two distinct zip codes in Danville - 94526, considered the original side of Danville that incorporates what is called Westside Danville. This is either side of the Ironhorse Trail and west up into the hills below Las Trampas Regional Preserve. The section of Danville with 94506 as the zip code is the newer part of Danville that goes east past Blackhawk Country Club.
Watch Jim explain why people are moving to the East Bay, and how schools, affordability, and quality of life are shaping the market.
